V:4 N:133

to him who struck down the firstborn of Egypt
His love endures forever.
and brought Israel out from among them
His love endures forever.
with a mighty hand and outstretched arm;
His love endures forever.
to him who divided the Red Sea asunder
His love endures forever.
and brought Israel through the midst of it,
His love endures forever.
but swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea;
His love endures forever.
to him who led his people through the desert,
His love endures forever.
…and who gives food to every creature.
His love endures forever.

Psalm 136:10-16, 25

God led His children down to Egypt, and He shook the earth and rescued the Israelites from the clutches of Pharaoh. God parted the Red Sea and took His children across on dry land into the desert with Himself. God never left their presence, for He remained close in the form of a cloud by day and a fire by night. He set up examinations for their hearts, put up with the grumbling, prepared disciplining measures for them, and fed them daily with manna from heaven above. God was faithful in battle after battle. And yet He saw that His love and His faithfulness were not enough to pull the heartstrings of mankind to total devotion and love in return. God moved even closer as the Word became flesh and dwelt among men. And even though we showed Him how we really felt by annihilating His Son on earth, He remained faithful and desirous of our love.

God is the Gentleman of all gentlemen, and even in the midst of the grief man has given Him, He extends grace to those who want to put Him back on the throne of our hearts!
