As Working For The Lord
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Colossians 3:23-24
It’s Monday, and back-to-work for many of us. What is your real goal at your job? Is it to get ahead and advance, no matter what the means? Is it to win the praise of people around you? Is it to get by with as little actual work as possible and avoid the boss? No matter where you work, your TRUE goal should be to advance the Kingdom…and there are many ways to do this. One way is through helping work authorities advance in their own goals – finding out if there is something you can do better or to make their job easier. Another way is by serving your co-workers, watching for where you can step in to help. It might be through encouraging the group instead of seeking selfish praise, or by not gossiping or bad-mouthing a co-worker, a spouse, or a supervisor. Uphold your work authorities. Look to the needs of others. Use every minute as if it were GOD Himself you were serving…for indeed, IT IS. Your actions and your heart will testify to those around you that your job is not about “getting ahead,” but rather about living for God.
