Love is patient…
1 Corinthians 13:4

The Apostle Paul gives a true and beautiful definition of “love” in 1 Corinthians 13 – read the whole chapter again today. If you look up the present definition of the word “love,” it has been reduced to “feelings of affection” and “deep romantic or sexual attachment” – but not one of the selfless characteristics that the Apostle Paul used. No wonder the world cannot offer true love…it has no concept of its true meaning or essence. In Paul’s definition, the first characteristic of love is “patient.” This is a foundational characteristic to build true love on, for without patience, the 13 other characteristics could not be birthed! Patience is “the ability to wait.” It is the ability to wait without anxiousness. Full trust in God paves this path to patience. Love is patient with every decision God makes, and love is patient with God’s creation. Do you want to love? Then you must practice patience. Make patience your foundation today by giving God your heart, soul, mind, and strength by WAITING on His cues and His Spirit and trusting Him fully in all His direction. Love is patient.
