After God’s Own Heart
After removing Saul, God made David their king. He testified concerning him: “I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.”
Acts 13:22
Yesterday, we looked at King David’s love for God and his longing for God’s direction. David started out as a shepherd boy, working by himself all day long tending sheep…and he was chosen by God to serve Him in the highest position. Why? Was it because David was spoiled and unhappy and always wanting more for himself? No! King David was given more because his heart was so filled with love and devotion for God – he was even willing to die for God at a young age. Read how he stood up for God before the huge Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. David trusted in God at a young age, and he was there to defend God at a young age. When God looks at you today, will He see a person after His own heart? Can He firmly say: “This person will do everything I want him to do”? What an honor that would be! We must strive for the heart of King David so that God might testify this about us in the days to come.
