As Our Sins Deserve

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…
he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children – with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

Psalm 103:2,10,17-18

I wish someone had told me long, long ago that obedience to God and dying to my own selfish desires would bring THIS much JOY!!! So many people think that focusing on “self” all day is the way to live, but it only brings your heart much pain. In contrast, when your day centers around God and His desires and His will, your heart will be full of love for Him and for those around you. Your day should not be about “what you deserve” or disappointment or self-pity! With all that you have done in the past against God’s commands, you do not deserve one good thing in your life! You only “deserve” trouble everyday and maybe much more than that. We all do. So put to death that self-focus and “you deserve” attitude – be grateful and appreciative to God that you have awakened today with breath in your lungs and another day to serve Him whole-heartedly. Have no expectations for the day other than the full feeling in your heart that will come from a day spent in God’s will!
